Organizations for Shepherd of the Plains

Shepherd of the Plains offers a wide variety of organizations and activities for its members.

Music Ministry

Shepherd of the Plains is blessed with many talented musicians and voices. Our services are enhanced with the music of our new pipe organ, keyboard, as well as guitar, recorder, flute, violin, and voice. Members of all ages can participate.

Adult Choir

If you enjoy singing, why not join the Choir? This group is composed of confirmed men and women of the congregation. The choir rehearses as announced, usually after Worship services. For more information, please speak with Nicole Martens.

Sunday School Choir

The youth of our Sunday School periodically sing during our Worship Services. During Christmas, they have a special Christmas Service with songs and recitations.

Outreach

Every member of Shepherd of the Plains is encouraged to become involved in evangelism to share the Good News of the Gospel through canvassing, witnessing, telephoning, mailings, and visiting. To find out more about how you can help, contact Pastor Bergenthal or Ben Simons.

Elders, Church Council, and Voters Assembly

The Elders, Church Council, and Voters Assembly periodically meet. All members are encouraged to become involved in committees, activities, to attend open meetings, and to share their input with the congregational officers.

Sunday School

Sunday school is held during the school year from 9:15-10:15 AM every Sunday; and meets in the Sanctuary!  Sunday School begins with music time for ages 4-13 led by Nicole Martens with singing and instruments for the children to praise God!

For Bible stories, crafts, and games, the classes will split with children ages 4-6 with Susan Casey, and children ages 7-13 with Nicole Martens.

Snacks and juice provided. Please encourage members or friends with children to join us, and consider staying for Adult Bible Study. Bible knowledge for the whole family! (and yes, donuts/snacks and coffee for the adults too!:))

Game Nights

Periodically our Campus and Youth groups get together for a delicious meal followed by a night of games. It is a lot of fun!

WOW (Women of the WELS)

WOW is an organization formed to serve and include all the women at Shepherd of the Plains. Through WOW the ladies encourage each other, strengthen Christian fellowship within the church, and pool their talents and strengths to accomplish more than any one could individually. WOW  meets quarterly and as announced for the planning of special events and projects, such as the annual Fall Festival, Chili/Bunko night, Progressive Dinner, Church Cookbook, Wish Tree, greeting card sales, etc.

Active Thrivent Branch

Shepherd of the Plains has an active Thrivent Branch (formerly AAL Branch 10446 which received a Gold Star Rating). Our Congregational Coordinators are Deb Bergenthal, Kim Patton, and Ron Bremer.

Good Food and Fellowship

Probably the most informal way to meet your fellow members is by stopping for coffee before and after Worship services in the fellowship hall. Periodically we hold potluck dinners.

Many Opportunities to Serve

There are many opportunities to serve the Lord at Shepherd of the Plains. We are always looking for volunteers to clean the church, help at special workdays, repair needed items, paint, work on the grounds, organize events, etc. Your talents will always be put to good use!

"Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life." (John 3:36)
